3 Facts On Use Of Point In Tense(Present, Past And Future)

Verb is any kind of action and it bespeaks whether the action is in ongoing state or previous state or probable state. “Point” as verb will be discussed in all these three forms.

Point” as verb means directing one’s attention to something, to indicate something with finger, to denote anything, cautiously remarking something or someone. Present Perfect Tensea. I/We have pointed my/our finger  at the refrigerator to have the cold drinks.

Here  we will have the present perfect tense form of point  “has/have pointed” .  the action has just pointed out the sense of direction. The action started in the past and still continues.
Present Perfect Continous Tensea. Since the beginning of the semester  I/we  have been pointing to the theory of Aristotle.

c. since the beginning of class chiku /arna has been pointing to math problems.

D. since the beginning of semester the boys and girls have been pointing to the difficulties in studies.

Here the action verb “point” has been used in present perfect continuous form”has/have been pointing”. We have a sense of indication that started few months ago and still continues.

 Usage of “point” in past tense

Verb in past tense refers to the complete or finished action in the past. Let us have a look on the past forms of “point”.

Here the action verb ‘was/were  pointing’ refers to the ongoing action in the past. Here according to the law- past tense be verb(was/were) and ‘main verb+ing’ creates  a ongoing signifying or remarking action in the past.
Past perfect tensea. I/we had pointed to the ship from the sea beach before the fish trawler came.  

b. You had pointed to the ship from the sea beach before the fish trawler came.

  c. Chiku had pointed to the ship from the sea beach before the fish trawler came.  

d. the crowd had pointed to the ship from the sea beach before the fish trawler came.

Here two past action is mentioned . the first completed action is perfect tense. As in examples we can find  ‘had pointed’ are used to create a sense of completion before the second action occurs.
Past perfect continuous tensea.I /we had been pointing to the gas leakage before explosion happened.  

b. you had been pointing to the gas leakage before the explosion happened.  

c. Chiku had been pointing to the gas leakage before explosion happened.

  d. They had been pointing to the gas leakage before explosion happened.

Here we find the verb ‘had been pointing’ is used in order to denote the action(pointing) had been done before some point(explosion)

“Point” in future tense

In future tense the action is yet to happen or occur. Its a prediction before actual happening or occurence. Now we will discuss the usage of point in future tense

One can use the verb “point” in the future tense to mention what he wants to indicate at certain time, or direct at particular direction  in future. So “point” in future tense has the forms of shall/will point, shall /will be pointing/ shall/will have pointed and shall / will/ have been pointing respectively.

Here the verb point in future perfect tense  refers to remark the flaw of the employee before sacking in near future.

Here  the action verb  ‘have been pointing’ refers to the identification in near future.
Usage Of “point ” in The Future Tense Form
